Meet Our Horses

Sweet Pea

Sweet Pea

Sweetpea is our mascot and ambassador for the organization.  She has a calm disposition (like her name) and welcomes campers everyday.  She is the first horse that the children will interact with and always makes a great first impression.  Sweetpea helps teach grooming and leading techniques as well as safety.  Sweet pea is a three year old miniature horse and was donated by a local patron in 2008.  Sweetpea suffered as a colt from a hip and joint disability and received physical therapy from her owner.  She was left with a slight abnormality in her gait, but compensates without any problem.  Sweetpea is a testament to our campers, and she encourages them to believe that anything is possible.

Ding

Ding

Ding is our “Old Faithful”.  She has been with us since 2006, and is the first horse we began using.  Ding is an appaloosa and stands 14 hands tall.  Ding is twenty-four years old but hides her age well.  She began service as part of a matched pair of horses, “Ding and Dong,” that gave carriage rides in North central Arkansas.  When her partner passed she became part of a trail riding group until she was retired by her owners and donated to us.  Ding has an even tempered, friendly disposition.  She always seems eager to see the children at camp, and all the kids love her.  Ding is a valuable asset to our team.
